Success Story: Mr. Einar Loria

In 2014, while searching for new opportunities, I came across an advertisement in the newspaper for a training session offered by the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC) focused on Inbound and Outbound Call Services. Motivated to improve myself and explore a new career path, I applied immediately.

In October 2014, I officially joined the training. It was more than just a course; it was a turning point in my life. BTEC didn’t just teach me the fundamentals of customer service and call handling; they instilled in me the soft skills necessary to thrive professionally. I learned how to prepare for job interviews, from creating a compelling resume to dressing appropriately and answering questions with confidence and clarity.

Towards the end of the training, I applied for a driver position at Bowen & Bowen, and during my interview with Mr. Deon Augustus, the manager of the BSCS department at the time, he took note of my resume and the confident way I carried myself, skills I had gained through BTEC’s training. Thanks to my previous exposure to SAP and the self-presentation skills I developed through BTEC, I was offered a higher position as a Dispatcher.

I began my journey with Bowen & Bowen on November 14, 2014. My role initially involved managing manual beverage sales data for delivery scheduling. Eventually, I became part of a pilot project that transitioned the company’s sales process to SAP and handheld devices for pre-sellers and delivery drivers. As only one of two dispatchers, I embraced the challenge of learning new digital systems and helped implement them across the team.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I was transferred to Ladyville to serve as the Cross-Docking Dispatcher for Corozal and Orange Walk. I was responsible for transferring SAP data, training staff, and extending Belize Sales Centre Services to Ladyville. I also played a key role in onboarding and mentoring new team members transitioning from the Belize City office.

Recognizing my dedication and growth, I was promoted to Settlement Clerk, responsible for reconciling daily sales collections and managing bank deposits. After a year, I was promoted again—this time to Warehouse Supervisor, where I led a team of 38 staff. In this role, I managed inventory, oversaw order preparation, and ensured timely deliveries for large orders.

I proudly served at Bowen & Bowen for nine years, steadily climbing the ranks and embracing every opportunity to learn and grow.

Beyond my responsibilities, I made it a point to uplift and empower my team. I encouraged staff to expand their skills, whether it was learning inventory management, operating a forklift, or driving a delivery truck. My philosophy was simple: “If I can do it, you can too.”

BTEC laid the foundation for everything that followed. The training I received sparked my confidence and opened doors I never imagined. Today, I carry those lessons with pride, and I continue to advocate for growth, self-belief, and lifelong learning
