General Sales Tax (GST) Registration

General Sales Tax is a tax on consumer spending, collected in stages on business transactions and on imports of goods or services.

All persons engaged in a taxable activity with an annual turnover exceeding $75,000.00 must register with the Belize Tax Service under the General Sales Tax Act, Chapter 63 (Revised Edition 2011).  Registration is for the person conducting the activities, not the business activity itself. This person may be a company, partnership, sole proprietor, trustee, or estate.  Registration must occur within one month of the date the person becomes eligible. The Belize Tax Service offers online registration and other services through IRIS Belize, accessible on their website.
