Business Registration
According to the Business Names Act, Chapter 247 of the Laws of Belize, every firm, or individual having a place of business in Belize should register their business name. The Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR) provides incorporation, registration, and post-registration services for business names and several types of domestic and international business entities and Limited Liability Partnerships, among others. BCCAR is the Government of Belize’s domestic business registry providing services as authorized under the respective laws of Belize.
In order to provide efficient service, BCCAR provides an Online Business Registry System (ORBS)
Documents required include:
- Identification Card –Social Security and/or Belize Passport.
- Prescribed form(s) to be completed can be found on BCCAR’s Website: Form 1, Form 2, or Form 3.
- Payment of $25.00
- According to section 12(1) of the Act, any other document (s) that the Registrar (or authorized person) may think necessary to ascertain whether such person or the firm of which he is a partner should be registered under this Act.
Foreigners will need to apply with a Belizean partner or someone with a Permanent Residence to be able to register a business name.
