Bank Account Establishment
Belizeans and Permanent Residents
Customers must present valid identification (Social Security Card and/or Passport) and a recent utility bill (dated within the last three months) to confirm their residence. A minimum deposit is required to open an account and may vary among banking institutions.
To open a checking account, the Bank requires a banker’s reference from an established banking institution or a prior savings account with the Bank. Customers are also required to present valid identification and a recent utility bill (no more than three months old) as proof of residence.
Non-Belizeans
Customers must provide two banker’s references from established institutions, their passport (or a notarized copy), and one other form of identification. A recent utility bill (dated within the last three months) is also required. Non-Belizeans should inquire with their chosen banking institution regarding additional requirements for established business bank accounts, as these may vary.
